Closing ceremony of 9th National Rafting and 14th National Canoeing Championships

Nepal Rafting & Kayak Club Fishling ‘A’ secured the overall championship at the 9th National Rafting and 14th National Canoeing Championships, held in Fishling, Chitwan.
On the final day of competition on Tuesday, Fishling ‘A’ delivered dominant performances across all three major rafting disciplines to claim the title with a total of 972 points. Outperforming 12 participating clubs, Fishling ‘A’ earned 300 points in slalom, 350 in head-to-head, and 322 in the downriver race.
Paddle Nepal ‘B’ finished second with 899 points, while Rafting Adventure Nepal secured third place with 851.5 points. Bhote Koshi Adventure Club’s ‘A’ and ‘C’ teams placed fourth and fifth respectively.
In the kayak slalom event, Vijay Majhi emerged as champion, completing the course with a score of 124.51. Ashish Rana Magar finished second with 126.92, followed by Ranjan Kandel in third, Rabindra Chepang in fourth, and Rubin Tamang in fifth place.
The top three rafting teams received prize money of NPR 65,000, NPR 35,000, and NPR 25,000 respectively. In kayak slalom, the first, second, and third place finishers were awarded NPR 25,000, NPR 15,000, and NPR 7,500.
Organized with the support of the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, the award ceremony was attended by Council Member Secretary and Chief Guest Deepak Lama, Nepal Rafting & Canoeing Association President and Secretary General of NOC Rajiv Shrestha, and Asian Rafting Association President Saugat Pal Sikandel, who presented medals and prizes to the winners.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, NRCA President Shrestha announced that the top five athletes in canoeing slalom will be included in the first phase of the selection process for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Japan.
